Tea Party Republican U.S. Senator Marco Rubio Monday morning told his top donors he's getting into the 2016 race for the White House.

Marco Rubio this morning told high-dollar donors on a conference call he is "uniquely qualified" to be the President of the United States, according to the Associated Press.

The U.S Senator from Florida will officially launch his 2016 presidential campaign later today, after hinting last week he had a "big announcement." Rubio, whose top and defining issue had been his support for a degree of immigration reform, has over the past year flip-flopped to take the standard Republican line on the important issue that derailed the GOP in 2012.
The AP says Rubio is positioning himself as the "one that will defend the American Dream," and called Hillary Clinton "a leader from yesterday."
