Man Says Hotel Employee Called Him A ‘Fag’ Before Breaking His Arm During SXSW (Video)
A Texas man says a hotel employee called him a “fag” before slamming him to the ground so hard he had to go to the hospital.
31-year old Bobby Beltran says that on Sunday, March 15, a W Hotel employee called him a “fag” and then slammed him to the ground, causing “excruciating pain” and possible nerve damage, fracturing his arm, and dislocating bones in his hand, KVUE reports.
Beltran was in the Austin, Texas hotel during the popular South by Southwest (SXSW) music and film festivals and conference, attended by tens of thousands every year.Â
He says a hotel bar bouncer told him and his friends they had to leave, claiming they were too drunk to stay.
“He was walking behind me and said, ‘That’s right, fag,’ and continued to walk me out of the building,” Beltran told KVUE. “I turned to him and said, ‘That’s not right, you can’t be doing that stuff.'”
“It’s an excruciating pain. I am on pain meds right now and I do have specialists that I have to go to now.”
The Raw Story’s David Edwards reports the “Austin Police Department was still conducting initial phases of an investigation on Tuesday, but Beltran said that he was not waiting to file a lawsuit. He has hired Austin attorney Jason McMinn, and the lawsuit against the W Hotel was expected to be filed on Wednesday.”
“Providing a safe environment is the essence of our business,” the W said in a statement. “The hotel contacted police the night of the incident and will cooperate with law enforcement in any investigation they undertake.”
