$400 Million Trump Towers Istanbul ‘Assessing Relationship With The Trump Brand’
The Trump Towers in the fifth-largest city in the world is looking at its legal relationship with Donald Trump after the GOP frontrunner’s call to ban Muslims from America.
Istanbul, Turkey. Home to more than 14 million people, it’s the fifth-largest city in the world. It’s also home to Trump Towers Istanbul (photo) but in light of Donald Trump‘s call to ban Muslims from entering America, the future of Trump Towers Istanbul – at least, its name – is now in question.
“We are assessing the legal dimension of our relationship with the Trump brand,†the general manager of Trump Towers Istanbul said in a statement Thursday, the AP reports suggesting they might attempt to remove Trump’s name from the company and buildings.
Bulent Kural says Trump Towers Istanbul “regrets and condemns†its namesake’s anti-Muslim proposal.
Neither the GOP presidential candidate nor the Trump Organization own the $400 million residential and office twin tower complex, but they have licensed the Trump name to the complex.
Kural’s statement says Trump either does not understand Islam or has exploited Islam for “small political calculations,” the AP reports.
Trump Towers Istanbul is the latest Trump-associated business to denounce Trump’s comments and attempt to distance itself from them. Yesterday, as NCRM reported, Trump’s Dubai-based real estate partner stripped his photo, his daughter’s photo, and the Trump name from billboards outside Trump World Golf Club Dubai, a $6 billion golf club and residence complex under construction.
