Liberty Counsel, a radical Christian conservative legal firm and think tank, today announced their war on the War On Christmas, via their Tenth Annual “Friend or Foe” Christmas Campaign. Staver is promising to litigate against private retailers and businesses that are “censoring the Christmas message.”
(Regular readers will remember that yesterday, Barber said that gay people don’t really want to get married, rather, they merely want to use same-sex marriage as a “weapon” against religious free speech. Because religious free speech includes having to use the word “Christmas” or risk litigation?)
Staver and Barber repeatedly use the word “private,” as in “private business” and “private retailer” yet seem to ignore the fact that retailers have the right to celebrate — or not celebrate — Christmas any way they like.
That’s what “freedom of religion” is all about.
In fact, retailers don’t have to mention the word “Christmas” at all if they don’t want to.
So, Liberty Counsel has used the Google machine to search for the word “Christmas” on retailers’ websites, to make their “Naughty or Nice” list.
Who’s on the “Naughty” list?
Abercrombie & Fitch
J. Crew (whom Staver calls “JC Crew)
Polo Ralph Lauren & Ralph Lauren
Tractor Supply Company
Of course, in the true spirit of Christmas, Liberty Counsel is using their war on the War on Christmas to make a few bucks, like buying their war on War On Christmas memos (image, top), buttons, or just giving them your hard-earned cash.
