Comparing Homosexuality To Child Abuse, Russian Lawmaker Moves To Ban Kids From Gay Parents

A Russian lawmaker has filed a bill that calls for the removal of all children from the homes of their gay parents. Comparing homosexuality to child abuse, drug abuse, and alcoholism, State Duma Deputy Alexei Zhuravlev (image) has taken President Vladimir Putin‘s “homosexual propaganda” law and his continued war on gays one step further.

“The proposal comes in the wake of a bill banning homosexual ‘propaganda’ among minors,” the AP reports:

Authors of the bill have justified it as a measure aimed at protecting children, and not suppressing the LGBT community.

Alexei Zhuravlev, the author of the bill, referred to the earlier law and said that homosexual “propaganda” had to be banned not only in the public space “but also in the family.”

Zhuravlev is claiming  “if one of the child’s parents indulges in sexual contact with persons of the same sex, the damage to the child’s psyche is immense as a mother or father serves as an example for their offspring,” Russia’s RT News reports:

In the documents attached to the bill, Zhuravlev referred not to personal monitoring, but to research conducted by Mark Regnerus, an associate professor at the University of Texas in Austin. Regnerus claims that the children of people who have homosexual relations are less likely to call themselves ‘fully straight’ than the children of heterosexual parents (60-70 percent against 90 percent).

In addition, Regnerus claims that children of homosexual parents demonstrated three times the incidences of VD (25 percent against 8 percent), five times greater suicidal tendencies (25 percent against 5 percent) and three times the level of “inability to remain faithful to partners” (40 percent against 13 percent).

The Regnerus study has been thoroughly discredited not only throughout the U.S.scientific community, but on these very pages as well.

(See all our articles on the Regnerus study.)

For months LGBT activists have been warning this bill would be coming.

“Activists had feared the so-called ‘gay propaganda’ law in Russia could lead to this next step, with U.S. actor and producer Harvey Fierstein sure to mention it as among worst-case scenarios in his New York Times op-ed and during an interview on MSNBC in August,” The Advocate reports. “The existing law already bans any talk about homosexuality in front of minors.”

Russian journalist and LGBT activist Masha Gessen last month told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that she is moving her family from Moscow to New York so the Russian government couldn’t take away her children.

This is the path the Nazi's took on their path to the Holocaust. First the Nuremberg Laws taking away the rights of Jews to be full citizens of their own country. Then on from there. The Russians are laying the groundwork for a gay holocaust and the world yawns and counts down to the Olympics.

Robroberts2013 September 7, 2013 at 12:48 pm

If they are forcibly removing even biological children from same sex parents, this is basically already a gay holocaust. The notion of destroying families like this is chilling and repulsive — what is wrong with Russia, they can no longer claim to be a first world nation in any sense.

I never noticed the claim before that gay parents made their children less straight…even Regnerus didn't tout that…

the Russians are Relying on #REGNERUS.

Read this other story as well which reveals the basis that they are making the law is #REGNERUS

I am heartbroken as I have been tracking this since day -1 of the publication of that defective study.

Please e-mail the following People at the American Sociological Association and LGBT Sociology Scholars and demand an ASA investigation of this study. TWO Peer Reviewers were also PAID consultants on the study. Brad Wilcox as a peer reviewer was especially egregious as he was Director of the Witherspoon program who funded #Regnerus.

I don't know what else to do but to ask you to join me in demanding an official American Sociological Association Investigation. PLEASE WRITE TO THESE PEOPLE, Ridgeway is President of the ASA, Erick Olin Wright, past President Sally Hillman Executive Director Wending Manning did the research they used in their Amicus Brief.

God Help us All for allowing this to happen in Russia. It is the defective research of Mark Regnerus that is driving this world wide. PLEASE E-Mail & Call That is Brian Powell in Indiana All Sociologists except for Gary gates of the Williams Institute

Thank you for your interesting and instructive comment. I've copied the email addresses to a Word document so that I can refer to them when I write to these people.

Your first link above went to a page that said it doesn't exist. It provided similar links but I think yours was about Russia's use of the REGNERUS.

I did Google REGNERUS and found this that you might be interested in from Think Progress.:
http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2013/04/10/1848111/

It's from April 10, 2013 and has nothing to do with Russia, but is interesting just the same.

In the end, the Think Progress article shows that Mark Regnerus admitted in October that he couldn't draw conclusions about the parenting of gays and lesbians because he didn't even ask for the sexual orientation of the parents in the study.

Even though Regnerus has distanced himself from his study, he is still anti-gay marriage and filed an Amicus Brief pleading against marriage equality.at the Supreme Court Hearing re: DOMA.

That the study has been widely debunked, the new laws in Russia merely show the wide influence American Evangelicals are having globally. Let's not forget Reverend Lively's part in all of this with his open letter to the Russian people that set this whole movement in motion.

Citing the fraudulent Regnerus study, the blood is on Maggie Gallagher, Robert P. George and Brian S. Brown's hands.

SeanLiberty13 September 5, 2013 at 10:50 pm

And when these Russian Nazis are tried, convicted and sentenced for their crimes against humanity, and they WILL – just as was done to the Nazis who were caught after WWII and subjected to the Nuremberg Trials – Maggie Gallagher, Robert P. George, Brian S. Brown, and Regnerus will all be right next them at sentencing where they belong.

Mykelbarber September 5, 2013 at 9:11 pm

Mr. George, former founder of the National Organization for Marriage, was appointed by John Boehner to be the head of the Congress' Religious Freedom Commission. Yes folks, the hate is coming from our own Congress as well. Follow the money and DEMAND that George is FIRED.

SeanLiberty13 September 5, 2013 at 10:40 pm

Heinrich Himmler wannabe.

Robroberts2013 September 7, 2013 at 12:43 pm

Regnerus should be jailed for crimes against humanity if this legislation goes through.

sdfrenchie September 9, 2013 at 2:03 am

Well, if it's true that John Boehner appointed Mr. George to be the head of the Congress' Religious Freedom Commission, then Boehner is in this as deep as anyone else. Put them all on trial. The hate groups are already pushing for America to follow Russia's lead and ol' Maggie Gallagher is just twitchin' for something like this to happen here. Who else in Congress is backing these groups? All of the Tea Party freaks? No doubt Michelle Bachmann has her hate-filled tether hooked on this ball. Dammit! Why do we have to continue to contend with these sons-a-bitches? Oh,I know the answer to my own question. Because our own government isn't interested enough to put a stop to it. They're too busy counting their millions.
