Prostitute Who Claimed Senator Paid Her For Sex Admits She Was Paid To Lie

A prostitute who appeared on video claiming U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) had paid her for sex while in the Dominican Republic today recanted her lies, and admitted she not only had never met the New Jersey Senator and Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, but was paid to say she had sex with him.

The Washington Post minutes ago published a report stating the escort “has told Dominican Republic police that she was instead paid to make up the claims in a tape recording and has never met or seen the senator before, according to court documents and two people briefed on her claim.”

The woman identified a lawyer who approached her and a friend to make the videotape, according to affidavits obtained by the Post. That man has in turn identified another lawyer who gave him a script for the tape and paid him to find women to fabricate the claims, the affidavits say.

The escort was one of two women who taped videos that seems to support a tipster’s allegations that Menendez had patronized prostitutes while vacationing in the Dominican Republic.

FBI agents conducting interviews in the Dominican Republic have found no evidence to back up the tipster’s allegations, according to two people briefed on their work.

Menendez has denied the prostitution claims and called them entirely false “smears” used by enemies to try to defeat him in his recent re-election campaign and his selection as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“It’s amazing to me that anonymous, nameless, faceless individuals on a Web site can drive that type of story into the mainstream, but that’s what they’ve done successfully,” Menendez said last month. “Now, nobody can find them. No one ever met them. No one ever talked to them, but that’s where we’re at. So the bottom line is all of those smears are absolutely false and, you know, that’s the bottom line.”

Conservative websites and bloggers have been jumping all over this non-story for months, and as it turns out, it was a sham.

The Daily Caller was the first “news” site to run this baloney.

The New Civil Rights Movement reported on November 1, 2012:

Tucker Carlson, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller today published an article titled, “Women: Sen. Bob Menendez paid us for sex in the Dominican Republic.”

And Michelle Malkin, in, “Ladies Against Senator Sleaze-Bob: Where are you?,” on February 1, wrote as an introduction to her syndicated column, this:

My column below is on the deafening silence of the femmes over Sen. Sleaze-Bob Menendez’s alleged pedo-sex party scandal. Yes, a shredder is now involved. And here’s your hypocrisy flashback video of Menendez railing against foreign sex-trafficking. Menendez denies any wrongdoing, but the FBI raid of his travel companion and owner of the Dominican Republic resort where they partied together seems to be jogging Menendez’s faulty memory quite a bit. Stay tuned.

4/4 update: The sleaze circle grows wider as one of the prostitutes in the Menendez scandal identifies a wealthy Dominician politician as a participant in the Democrat’s sex parties. Also: Was there a fourth flight?

And no Democratic women from Capitol Hill have come forward yet to join me in my quest for bipartisan unity against Senator Sleaze-Bob. Come on, ladies. Don’t be shy!

How about just, “don’t be a liar”?

Fortunately, there’s this:
