Just weeks away from the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, the Russian government is showing signs of stress.

Under a steady barrage of criticism for their new “propaganda” law, barring the “promotion of non-traditional sexual relations” among minors, the Russian government has released a report accusing the European Union of promoting: “an alien view of homosexuality and same-sex marriages as a norm of life.”

To which we say, way to go Europe!

According to RiaNavosti, the Russian “report” on Human Rights in the EU was released Tuesday by the Russian Foreign Ministry. RiaNovasti notes they chose to use a word for homosexuals that translators say is comparable to “queer” – not as disrespectful as”fag”, but much less respectful than “gay”.

The report complains of Western Europe’s “aggressive propaganda of homosexual love.” and their “dissemination of their neo-liberal values as a universal lifestyle for all other members of the international community.”

To which we again say, way to go Europe!

The Russians say this critique of gay rights in Europe is part if their new “diplomatic offensive against gay propaganda.”

With the Olympics only three weeks away, a “diplomatic offensive against gay propaganda” by the foreign ministry is not a hopeful sign.

So Permanent President Putin is getting squarely…. JUST YOU WAIT, as Elza said.

A story in The Advocate has great insight into the Russian hypocrisy of pushing for laws that answer to the Russian Orthodox Church but almost never get enforced. Puto's government is in shambles and many view the Olympics as another waste of money, the figure, according to magazines, vastly inflated due to corruption at every level of Russian businesses. Many of those profiting from the building of the Olympic village in a formerly underdeveloped summer resort on the Black Sea are friends of Puto and the oligarchs who basically run the country.
