Ann Coulter: Civil Rights Not For Gays Or Immigrants, Just ‘For Blacks’

Claiming minorities have “commandeered” civil rights, Ann Coulter says that civil rights are not for gays or immigrants, civil rights are only “for Blacks,” because of slavery. Coulter made the remarks to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Sunday’s “This Week,” while plugging her new book, Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama.

“Coulter said that she thought that ‘civil rights are for blacks’ because the U.S. has a ‘legacy of slavery and Jim Crow laws’,” the Huffington Post reported:

She added, “We don’t owe the homeless. We don’t owe feminists. We don’t owe women who are desirous of having abortions, or gays who want to get married to one another.” She said that “much of the left…dropped the blacks after five minutes” to argue for “civil rights” for other groups of people.

Stephanopoulos interrupted Coulter asking, “Immigrant rights are not civil rights?” Coulter confirmed that she only thinks “civil rights are for blacks.”

She argued, “What have we done to the immigrants? We owe black people something. We have a legacy of slavery. Immigrants haven ‘t even been in this country.”

Coulter’s book, Mugged, which officially goes on sale tomorrow, offers these concepts, per the Amazon.com description:

“This isn’t a story about black people—it’s a story about the Left’s agenda to patronize blacks and lie to everyone else.”

For decades, the Left has been putting on a play with themselves as heroes in an ongoing civil rights movement—which they were mostly absent from at the time. Long after pervasive racial discrimination ended, they kept pretending America was being run by the Klan and that liberals were black America’s only protectors.

It took the O. J. Simpson verdict—the race-based acquittal of a spectacularly guilty black celebrity as blacks across America erupted in cheers—to shut down the white guilt bank.

But now, fewer than two decades later, our “postracial” president has returned us to the pre-OJ era of nonstop racial posturing. A half-black, half-white Democrat, not descended from American slaves, has brought racial unrest back with a whoop.

The Obama candidacy allowed liberals to engage in self-righteousness about race and get a hard-core Leftie in the White House at the same time. In 2008, we were told the only way for the nation to move past race was to elect him as president. And 53 percent of voters fell for it.

Now, Ann Coulter fearlessly explains the real history of race relations in this country, including how white liberals twist that history to spring the guilty, accuse the innocent, and engender racial hatreds, all in order to win politically.

Going where few authors would dare, Coulter explores the racial demagoguery that has mugged America since the early seventies. She shines the light of truth on cases ranging from Tawana Brawley, Lemrick Nelson, and Howard Beach, NY, to the LA riots and the Duke lacrosse scandal. And she shows how the 2012 Obama campaign is going to inspire the greatest racial guilt mongering of all time.

What a pathetic excuse for a human being. She was a "JD" to brag about but doesn't seem to understand the Constitution or even have enuf grey matter to attempt the challenge.

You know what they say – If we give civil rights to (insert group here), then everyone will want them. And here I was thinking that civil rights were, by definition, for everyone. Silly me.

No one ever accused this silly woman of being truthful in anything she has printed, much less said in the rapid-eye-movement of TV punditry. No, if she had investigated the history of African-American/lgbt-queer relations she would know that for decades after the 60's — in fact, until women like Maxine Waters discussed Obama's repeal of DADT and refusal to sign any DOMA-type laws — did blacks finally refer to queer rights as "civil rights." I think it was Maxine Waters I first heard say that. The most commonly heard argument against any comparison was that black people could not change the color of their skin, which might make sense except that queer people can't always be open about what they are, the concomitant to the the pre-Obama mindset. It was like a black Rip Van Winkle finally waking up and smelling the opprobrium. It simply makes no sense to say that your skin color restricts your freedom while silence when you wish to speak is no restriction at all. The military people who now serve openly have completely integrated personalities, as they are no longer torn between having people like them for what they are and fearing them for having spoken out. I do not know who said it but it makes sense to me: As long as any one is not free, none of us is free.

Honey, civil rights are for All People, even you. That's why you can dump this garbage out of your mouth. By-the-way, eat a cookie, you're far too skiny.

Yeah, they think they don't owe nobody nothin, and are quite loud about it. Funny thing is, all those people they claim they don't owe anything to are voters.

You want them on your side. You don't get them on your side by inferring they think the govt. owes them and label them freeloaders. Doin it wrong, Ann!

Maybe if the media would stop giving this waste of brain matter a platform, she might just slither way.
