President Obama today answered “Yes” today when CBS News’ Scott Pelley asked if gays should be allowed into the Boy Scouts. The Scouts announced they will debate the issue this coming week and may drop their national ban on gays.
Dropping the ban would merely toss the decision of whether or not to discriminate against gays to the local level, a decision that doesn’t go far enough, some say.
In August of last year, the President made the same statement, but today’s, airing during the Super Bowl pre-game interview, will reach a larger audience at a critical point in time.
