Megyn Kelly: America Decided ‘To Race-Bait’ Over My ‘Santa Is White’ Comments

Post image for Megyn Kelly: America Decided ‘To Race-Bait’ Over My ‘Santa Is White’ Comments

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly on Wednesday had insisted it was a “verifiable fact” that Jesus Christ was white. She also — in a quick monologue to whatever children might be watching the news at 10 PM — said that “Santa just is white.”

So the kids wouldn’t worry?

The internet pounced — and rightly so.

Kelly was mysteriously absent from her show the next day.

But Friday night, she addressed the issue.

WATCH: Jon Stewart On Fox’s Race-Based Freakout: ‘You Do Know Jesus Wasn’t Born In Bethlehem, PA?’

It turns out, America is the race-baiter, not Megyn Kelly, Megyn Kelly insisted.

“Many questioning whether I understand that Santa is a mythical figure, others’ suggesting that I am a racist who is outraged at the idea of a black Santa,” Kelly told her audience — which probably doubled in size for her performance Friday.

Kelly insisted her comments were not “motivated by any racial fear, or loathing.”

But were they motivated by ratings? Or by “a political campaign designed to stoke white peoples’ fears of black men,” as Gawker yesterday mentioned?

In “Megyn Kelly Is a Race Hustler,” Gawker’s J.K. Trotter yesterday writes that “Kelly is, in her employer’s parlance, a race hustler,” and reminds America of this:

Throughout the first half of the Obama administration, Kelly was all over the utterly false story that a rogue group of black supremacists called the New Black Panther Party were trying to scare off white people from voting. In the first two weeks of coverage, Kelly anchored 45 different segments about the New Black Panthers… When it turned out the charges against the Panthers were baseless, Kelly spent less than two minutes addressing the news.

Friday night, Kelly defended her honor by playing the victim and accusing America of bad faith — and race-baiting.

“Well, this would be funny if it were not so telling about our society, in particular the knee-jerk instinct by so many to race-bait and to assume the worst in people. Especially people employed by the very powerful Fox News channel.”

But Kelly decided she was going to frame the debate her way.  She addressed her comment from Wednesday that it was a “fact” that Jesus was white — by spending all of five seconds on that part of her outrageous comments.

“As I’ve learned in the past few days,” she decried, the fact that Jesus wasn’t white “is far from settled.”

Actually, it really is settled. But just like climate change, even if perhaps one percent of the world’s population disagrees, a settled fact is “far from settled” at Fox News.

And, Kelly added, she was only kidding around, so, there.

“I offered a tongue-in-cheek message for any kids watching,” Kelly claimed. “Humor is a part of what we try to bring to this show, but sometimes that is lost on the humorless.”

Perhaps all of Fox News is really just a joke?

“Fox News,” Kelly said, “and yours truly are big targets for many people.”

Curiously, she has no idea why.

What a dumb racist bitch !!

padzermania December 16, 2013 at 9:37 am

Why? All she said was that Santa is white, based on how she was brought up and according to the MANY illustrations from the past and present showing that Santa is indeed WHITE!!! She was not slating any other ethnic group, also Fox News did show snippets of African Americans saying that there are black Santa's in typical black households, to which Megyn didn't dispute it, so how is she a dumb racist bitch?

TCPLA December 16, 2013 at 10:31 am

Santa Claus is a mythical character, ergo if blacks want to portray him as black there's no real basis for telling him they're wrong. If you want to get technical, the historical Saint Nicholas was Greek and was portrayed in early religious art as olive-skinned and dark haired. Hardly the rosy-cheeked man with a bushy white beard we're familiar with today, but should we then say that centuries-old icons are wrong?

JesseA36 May 27, 2014 at 10:53 am

Its racist because she said "To all the children out there, santa is white too."

So,,, either she's assuming that only white children watch FOXNEWS (which might actually be pretty close to the truth), or she doesnt care, and is literally telling ALL children of ALL creeds and races, that Santa is indeed white.

That, my friend is racist. And yes, what makes her dumb is that she didn't have the foresight to predict this outcome. OR, if she did, it means she spoke those words simply to generate publicity, hype, and greater viewership. Which would also make her dumb in my book.

Finally, the b*tch word was a bit uncalled for, but Miss Megyn Kelly never shys away from saying outrageous and unfounded things, she's essentially a political pundit more than a journalist or news reporter. She's there for ratings. And one of the outcomes of being a sensationalist is that you're going to piss people off. And they're probably gonna call you nasty things on social media. Small price to pay for what I imagine is a very very healthy pay check she's taking home.

From the movie "Overboard"…"You are so bored, you have to make shit up to bitch about!"
She knew what she was doing and it is giving her face time to defend …sorry….victimize herself.

Santa and Jesus may have been real. If so, they both would have been some shade of brown rather than white due to where and to whom they were born.

BillDe December 15, 2013 at 2:03 am

Ashkenazim (Caucasians) represent the highest percent of the Jewish population both in Israel and worldwide.

Google it BJ.

OMG Santa has blue eyes…kill him, NOW!

JesseA36 May 27, 2014 at 10:58 am

BillDe, for the majority of the world, "White" implies 'of European descent. That's it. No middle-eastern. And I'm no bible enthusiast, but I'm pretty sure Jesus hails from an area outside of Europe, and by today's standards, would not be labeled as "White".

No one is saying "Kill santa, we see blue eyes!". They're saying, "Gee Megyn, stop saying racially insensitive things intentionally to generate buzz so that people will watch your show." Because, as everyone knows, her program has no substance, and can only gain viewership by saying outrageous things and turning it into a sort of Maury Povich for the news networks.

Santa is a mythical figure? There is more evidence for his existence than for the other guy..

Classic Fox/Teapublican: "Why is everyone persecuting me and Christmas?"

Towanda December 14, 2013 at 10:48 am

Of course, when Kelly says something ignorant without caring about its implications, it's everyone else's fault. Right. That's how that works.(end snark). I don't know why this type of behavior is endorsed in any area. Kelly said something stupid and then reacted like a child to the pushback. Why can't people like her grow up and take responsibility for their actions?

JesseA36 May 27, 2014 at 11:00 am

Part of the application for FOXNEWS requires that you show proof you can twist your story around this way and that way until you're the victim. It's an art really. No matter how loud you are, no matter how offensive, no matter how hateful, you're a victim because all you did was make a fun little joke, and all the mean people out there attacked you. Blah.. blah……

joannmp December 14, 2013 at 2:47 pm

Megyn Kelly's absurd justification excuse, backtracking to her earlier racist comments to claim that they were not intended seriously, is worse than the usual lame apology one might have expected (the "I am sorry you were offended" kind of thing). She still does not understand that the historical Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas of Myra) was West Asian, and Yeshua ben Miriam (the historical Jesus) was also West Asian – and neither of them were exactly "white" – traditional views of ignorant Americans like Megyn with Northern European ethnic roots notwithstanding.

BlueStapler December 14, 2013 at 3:27 pm

It's quite possible that all those chemicals she uses to turn her hair blonde over the years have affected whatever tiny brain she ever did have. Tongue in cheek comment? I bet she doesn't even know what that means.

pwrblnc December 14, 2013 at 3:30 pm

Oh, so now it's our fault that she doesn't have a clue what she is talking about. She needs to spend more time researching her stories and less time watching herself on TV. She a racist, pure and simple.

JesseA36 May 27, 2014 at 11:01 am

Research? Megyn? Have you watched her show. That would completely change the format. No one would watch.

pwrblnc December 14, 2013 at 3:32 pm

Oh, and by the way Megyn, Cleopatra was not Elizabeth Taylor.

SCVMalcolm December 14, 2013 at 9:10 pm

She's so damned ignorant and brainwashed that she can't even rationalize the FACT that Jesus was born and died a JEW, and from where he was born and lived, he was no tighty whitey!

BillDe December 15, 2013 at 1:58 am

Please Google "are Palestinians white" "are israelis white"

Next thing ya know you'll be saying Kim Kardashian ain't white. Jeez.

JesseA36 May 27, 2014 at 11:06 am

For many, Kim Kardashian isn't 'white'. But she's not a good example, since she's only half Armenian. It seems you are thinking white means anything that's not African American.
Middle-eastern, asian, mexican, native american, these people don't typically fall under the category of white.
White, for most of history, has implied European descent. Coming from England, France, Germany, etc.

JesseA36 May 27, 2014 at 11:12 am

You should google too. We can have a google party. Palestinians are primarily Arabs. Arabs are not considered caucasian. You may already know the term caucasion, its another word for 'white'.

Now don't get your panties in a bunch…

"I was just trying to be funny."
Translation: "my spin doctors have been working overtime, trying to figure out a way for me to save face and portray me as a poor, maligned victim of the big, bad media."
Earth to Megyn — you ARE the big, bad media.

Gotta love those self-righteous conservatives and their alabaster view of the world:
To wit — Santa is white … and so is the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.
Furthermore, Jesus was a white guy … and of course, so is God.

Fox News: the blind leading the stupid

CharlieB1962 December 15, 2013 at 1:45 am

I thought she was a stupid racist at first but know she's a profestest racist with no true morals! I wonder where she study Religion? Jesus race has been debates by Biblical Scholars throughout history. But they do know for a fact that His mother, Mary was of Middle Eastern deceit. There are also debates by some Biblical Scholar of Mary only "carried" Jesus until birth, therefore, His "True" race is unknown and most likely Middle Eastern. What I'm saying is Megan pulled the racist hate herself.. Maybe she got her educated info from a "Burning Bush" since she's all knowing. Does it really matter anyway, He's still God's Son.

BillDe December 15, 2013 at 1:46 am

Aisha Harris, the African American gal who wrote the article that Miss Kelly satirically agreed with is the one who INSISTED that Santa was always white.

Why isn't anybody up her azz over it? Did I miss the mention of her above?

She was over dramatizing what Miss Harris was stressing in her silly article about Santa always being white.

My F ing Gawd, you people pouncing on Miss Kelly are SUPER WEIRD!

BillDe December 15, 2013 at 1:54 am

P.S. I'm Dreaming of a White Kwanzaa ♫ ♫ ♫

Now don't get your panties in a bunch now.

JesseA36 May 27, 2014 at 11:18 am

How deep do you do your research, or are you just using things like Wikepedia. The article in which Aisha Harris discussed Santa, questioned the assumption everyone has that santa was white. She was asserting that the majority of Americans assume he's white, she was not stating SANTA IS WHITE.

She also came out shortly after all the hubub, stating that is ridiculous that Megyn would think we'd buy the 'joke' comment. And I agree. I saw the footage myself. And she spoke the words emphatically, and with no humour whatsoever. She meant what the said. And saying the was trying to make a joke out of it is just irresponsible, and clearly the act of someone tyring to dig themselves out of a hole.
