Saying, “my haters are my motivators,” Ellen DeGeneres so very eloquently explained why a fanatical right wing extremist group called One Million Moms is wrong to call for her firing as the new JC Penny spokesperson, merely because she is a lesbian. DeGeneres did not mention that One Million Moms is a militant, Internet-based project of the certified hate group American Family Association (AFA), probably because she’s far too classy. (Of course, we’re not!)

DeGeneres did mention that One Million Mom’s Facebook page has only 40,000 members. And as we mentioned when we first reported on this assault by the AFA, One Million Moms is merely an exceptionally low-cost email collectors and fundraisers for their parent, the AFA. And Ellen happens to actually have several million fans on Facebook, well over nine million followers on Twitter, and is seen in millions of homes throughout America and around the world every day.

By the way, GLAAD has a campaign now to support Ellen and to thank JC Penney for supporting her.

DeGeneres, in this video response below, says One Million Moms “doesn’t think I should be the spokesperson because I’m gay. They wanted to get me fired, and I’m proud and happy to say that JCPenney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson. Which is great news for me because I also need some new crew socks. I’m really going to clean up with this discount.”

She added, “I usually don’t talk about stuff like this on my show, but I really want to thank everyone who is supporting me. Here are the values I stand for. I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you’d want to be treated and helping those in need.To me, those are traditional values. That’s what I stand for…I also believe in dance.”

Good for her. She is not going to let 1 million who are actually 40,000 get her down.

A little late, but I applaud Ellen and these folks are just desperate to stuff LGBT back into the closet. That tsunami has already rippled the water and cannot be stopped. I think it's going the same as civil rights did. People can disagree, even hate, but it is truly unconstitutional to hold "certain people" to a lower status because of the beliefs of other people. We have to figure out how to honor our Constitution and coexist with our differences.
I think people are going to see that business will be increased by having such a wonderful spokesperson and those businesses will be rewarded for their inclusion, rather than exclusion.
