Bryan Fischer: Exorcisms Can Cure People Of The Gay

Post image for Bryan Fischer: Exorcisms Can Cure People Of The Gay

Bryan Fischer may be just slightly to the left of the God Hates Fags people, but says he believes exorcisms can “cure” people of homosexuality, in this inteview with David Pakman.

Bryan Fischer is the public face of the certified anti-gay hate group, American Family Association.

Fischer also falsely states that the CDC — Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — state that homosexuals live twenty years less than heterosexuals.

What Fischer is referring to of course is that HIV/AIDS can shorten the life of anyone — not just LGBT people — especially without proper medical treatment. Fischer doesn’t mention that at all. Does Fischer believes all LGBT people have HIV/AIDS?

Pakman then brings up former Navy chaplain Gordon Klingenschmitt — whom Pakman interviewed here and here — who claims that exorcisms can “cure” gay people of “homosexual demons.”

Fischer of course agrees, because because there are spiritual forces at work.

Which, means, of course, that Fischer apparently believes a satanic spirit the cause of homosexuality.

Which means, of course, that Fischer, presumably, thinks gays are of the devil — unsurprising since he has said that gays “are Nazis.”

But what can cure people of Bryan Fischer?

Okay, so he thinks gays can be exorcised (I am confident Michelle Bachman probably shares that belief), but where is the payoff here? Outside of showing us another religious crackpot who spreads lies, where do we go with this?

I mean what is David Pakman doing outside of filling a 15-minute segment? This is basically creating an 'entertainment' around a homophobic bigot who doesn't deserve to be treated with any credibility. It's as bad as Russell Brand hosting the Phelps' clan (which he recently did).

Did Pakman really think he was going to get some type of intelligent dialogue going? Fischer's livelihood solely depends upon his homophobic rants generating funds. Did David really expect the man to have some sort of epiphany? On his show?

More to the point, can't he find a guest that actually matters?

If they had someone respectable on the show, they wouldn't be able to paint their opposition as brutally evil psychopaths. It's the same reason why O'Reilly only ever allows the craziest of the left on his show. It generates much more views that way, and makes people feel better about themselves. "At least I'm not them," and such.
Of course, having those people on your show only ensures that they will continue to exist.

Except most anti-gay proponents think Bryan Fischer IS "someone respectable."
Can you name even one ant-SSM leader who is reasonable, respectable, and doesn't either ignore the First Amendment, intentionally spread misinformation, or blatantly lie about homosexuality & gay marriage?

If only there was an exorcism that could cure people of the stupid.
